“Real Time” host Bill Maher vented again Friday night about liberals’ light touch when it comes to dealing with radical Islam — particularly President Barack Obama, who Maher said bristles at the term “Islamic extremism” and prefers to say “violent extremism.”
Maher — who also considers himself a liberal and typically battles members of his own political tribe over radical Islam — actually spoke to a Democrat who agreed with him.
U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii said “words mean things” and that America must “identify our enemy so that we can defeat them.” She added that excuses the left offers for Islamists’ behavior — such as poverty or “thrill-seeking” — just doesn’t wash.
“Give ‘em a big house, give ‘em a skateboard, send them on their way — you think that going to solve the problem?” Gabbard asked rhetorically. “It’s not.”
“I don’t know why we can’t call out this stuff for what it is,” Maher added.
