Why Let The Truth Out When You Can Spend Money To Prevent It?

Insider: Democrats in Congress waste $2 million protecting Clinton on Benghazi

For months, Democrats in Congress have been accusing Republican lawmakers of wasting taxpayer dollars investigating Hillary Clinton’s actions leading up to the attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012. But new information about the inner-workings of the investigation shows that Democrats are the ones wasting money, all in the name of protecting Clinton’s presidential bid.
Matt Wolking, spokesman for the House Select Committee on Benghazi, says that roughly $2 million of the $5.5 million spent by the committee on the investigation is money wasted as a result of Democrats trying to stifle the effort.
“While Democrats on the Benghazi Committee have made a big show of pretending to care about the cost of this investigation, they’ve made zero meaningful contributions and spent virtually all of their time and effort on undermining and obstructing the committee’s work, directly contributing to its length and cost,” Wolking said in a statement.
“Their incessant politicization of legitimate congressional oversight is appalling and grotesque, and only proves that the process could have been completed much faster if Democrats had helped with the work instead of delay it.”
Lawmakers on the left have worked to derail the investigation since it began more than a year and a half ago, claiming the GOP is simply interested in harming the former top diplomat’s presidential chances.
According to people familiar with the investigation, Democrats are employing time-wasting tactics and have failed to call a single witness or request any documents concerning the attack.
Wolking says congressional Democrats have essentially eschewed their oversight responsibilities in favor of acting as Clinton campaign lackeys.
“Of course, their motivations are obvious,” he said on Friday. “They’ve endorsed the former Secretary of State for president, and will no doubt continue to act as a full-fledged arm of her campaign, wasting taxpayer dollars on everything but getting answers for the families of the victims who were left without adequate security on Sept. 11 [2012] in one of the most dangerous places in the world.”
